Our largest sponsorship fund – the Community Support Fund 2026 – is NOW open!
Applications will be accepted from the 1st of February and remains open until 28th of February. A whooping €300,000 has been made available this year, to cover a range of sponsorship requests, from smaller items such as a social outing for an active retirement group to larger capital investments such as the purchase of equipment.
While the general application process and application form have not changed, some additional information may be required for the larger projects. Requests for sponsorship for under €5,000 should complete the ‘Community Funding’ form, while requests for larger amounts, whether a capital investment (purchase of a vehicle, equipment or a building) or a pilot programme, should use the ‘Capital & Pilot Programme’ form.
The fund has provided sponsorship of just under €500,000 since its’ inception in 2011. The amount allocated has grown each year, demonstrating the credit union’s continued commitment to supporting its’ members, local clubs and community groups.
Eileen Brophy, Chairperson of the Board of Directors acknowledged that the credit union has long been a pillar of the local community and is proud to continue to expand its contribution to local organisations, that make a meaningful impact on community wellbeing. ‘We believe that investing in our community is not only a moral imperative but also a reflection of our co-operative values’ she said at a recent meeting.
Paul Shaw, CEO of the credit union said that the Community Support Fund is the Credit Union’s way of giving back to the community; it is an event that is positive, heart-warming and uplifting – and helps ensure that vital community groups can continue to develop and thrive.
