Midlands Simon Community

As a community-based organisation which was and continues to be built on the ethos of co-operation and community spirit, we were delighted to present a cheque for €5,000 to the Midlands Simon Community, on behalf of our members. The current pandemic has placed immense pressure on people and both the credit union, and the Midlands Simon Community are at the forefront of dealing with this pressure.

Emma Keane, Manager of the Regional Support Service told us that the Midlands Simon Community provide a number of services across the Midlands region. In Tullamore, they operate an emergency accommodation service, as well a regional support and an out-of-hours service. She further explained that the main focus of their work is to assist and support people to move out of homelessness, whilst also helping them with other issues, such as loneliness, isolation, poverty, addiction and health & welfare issues.

Despite the challenges of the current pandemic, Midlands Simon Community has continued to operate their services fully – she expressed her profound thanks to the members of Tullamore Credit Union Ltd for their generous donation and advised that the funds will enable them to assist those impacted by the current crisis.
