We welcomed home Minister Jennifer Carroll Mac Neill to the Patrick St office last Monday 24th April as the credit union celebrated its 60th anniversary!
Chairperson Liam O’Callaghan and CEO Paul Shaw as well as invited guests and members gathered in the Patrick St office, where the Minister spoke about her granddad John Carroll, who was a founding director and her dad Denis Carroll, who was the first volunteer manager of the office. The Minister said ‘she was proud to be the Minister for credit unions and spoke passionately about the ‘community bank’ which the credit union is in Ireland, when she is in financial capitals throughout Europe’. She outlined some of the legislation currently going through the Oireachtas and praised Tullamore Credit Union for already being a leader, in terms of products and services, currently available to its members. She noted that the personal connection & being at the heart of the community are some of the greatest strengths of the credit union movement.
