Tullamore Credit Union Ltd held their annual Information Evening for Students and Parents in the Sacred Heart School last Tuesday, 27th February. As always, the event provided some very useful information to both students and parents.
Ray Spain, Vice Chairperson of Tullamore Credit Union Ltd welcomed the 3 guest speakers, as well as parents and students to the evening.
In his opening speech, he focussed on the credit union’s ongoing commitment to providing students with the means of attending third level education, stating that every parent strives to provide the best for their children – and that with the financial support of Tullamore Credit Union Ltd – this is possible! He pointed out that currently 400 members of Tullamore Credit Union Ltd are financing their further education through the credit union. These loans amount to €2.3m. This is possible because of the excellent and flexible Student Loan Package available to members.
Caroline Collins, Members Services Development Manager, later explained how the specially reduced Student Loan Package operates. She outlined how the reduced interest rate of 6.5% (APR 6.8%) combined with individual and flexible repayment options, makes the Student Loan Package so attractive.
Nicola Keating, Marketing Officer introduced the 3 guest speakers in turn.
The first speaker Annette Duggan spoke about learning styles, learning in school, studying at home and gave her insight into planning exam strategies. Her experience as a Career Guidance teacher and mother shone through, she offered all who attended a discount voucher for an online study app studyclix.ie
The second speaker, Mary Quirke, spoke in detail about aligning personal interests and traits with further study. She advised that there are several paths to the one goal and reminded all present that on-going education is now a feature of all professional worklives.
The final speaker, Daniel Seery spoke passionately about Athlone IT, outlining the facilities and student supports available. He is a former graduate of the college and spoke with great knowledge and pride about his alma mater. He reminded parents that students should visit each college and take advantage of the open days available.
Loans Officers, Mary Troy and Mary Hannevig were on hand to answer any queries about the Student Loan Package, details of which are available in the office and on the credit union website, www.tullamorecu.ie.
